Without a finger in the digital pie, students can be disconnected from the digital world when they enter the workforce. Nalanda Education Foundation endeavors to set more young minds on a brighter path by providing quality primary and secondary education to financially disadvantaged children in India. We offer scholarships to weaker sections of society and equip underfunded schools in rural India with faculty and infrastructure.

THE NALANDA MISSION

Sudha, a pre-teen in the seventh grade at a government-aided school in Bengaluru, South India, has no access to the internet or a computer at home or school. She studies all her courses in Kannada, the language spoken in Karnataka. Sudha has never Googled anything and does not have an Instagram account. Sudha's family gets by on $120 a month. With the pandemic, her education has come to a standstill. Can Sudha aspire to be an astronaut, an engineer, or a data scientist? Sudha will likely be left behind, as will the hundreds of millions like her.

We started Nalanda with a simple mission: level the playing field for children like Sudha and enable them with the right financial aid, digital literacy, and education in English so that they have a fair shot. The founders of Nalanda have reaped the rewards of the digital world and want to give back.

WHAT WE OFFER

Nalanda Education Foundation offers four forms of aid for financially disadvantaged children and under-funded schools in India

INFRASTRUCTURE
AND IT

We work with underfunded schools to upgrade restrooms, writing boards, furniture and establish computer labs

FACULTY AND
TEACHING

We help unaided schools add dedicated faculty staff trained in STEM and English.

STUDENT
SCHOLARSHIPS*

We work with financially disadvantaged families and offer 100% tuition via scholarships.

DIGITAL
LITERACY

We conduct free digital literacy camps for children in collaboration with our technology partner – Aurigo Sofware Inc.

*NEF works with partner schools to identify deserving students based on financial standing. Academic performance and financial needs are both considered.

Scholarships offer a silver bullet solution to the debilitating obstacle of financial challenges that can burden students' families who belong to weaker sections of society.

Under the school adoption program, NEF Partner institutes enjoy upgraded infrastructure, IT equipment, and a mid-day meal for every student.

NEF provides supplemental faculty, including volunteers and full-time qualified teachers who have successfully taught STEM and English courses at reputed institutes.

By removing the impact of education costs, our aid reduces their chances of dropping out, expands horizons for students, and offers their families a greater incentive to support young dreams.

Nalanda Education Foundation (NEF) is a charitable, not-for-profit foundation incorporated in Delaware, USA. We believe that the path to a better quality of life begins with better education.
